The entrance ceremony for the ‘2022 INHA Summer School’ was held at the 60th Anniversary Hall. This year's INHA Summer School, which will be held three years after being suspended due to COVID-19, will feature a total of 75 students from 19 universities in 11 countries, including the University of Westminster and the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
For three weeks, foreign students can complete up to five credits through Korean language classes and various Korea-related classes, including Korean culture, economics & management, and health. In particular, lectures and practical classes are conducted in the form of workshops for classes related to Korean dance, pop culture, and film. Field visit programs linked to classes such as Seonhak Ice Rink will also be operated.
INHA Summer School is Inha University’s representative short-term invitation program for foreign students. Inha Summer School, which marks its 17th anniversary this year, was first held in 2004, and foreign students of various nationalities visit Inha University through the program every year.
Although Chinese exchange universities were unable to participate due to measures such as visa restrictions, overseas universities from various countries and regions, including Central Asia and Europe, participated despite difficulties in limited publicity due to COVID-19. Option trips such as enhanced Korean language classes, watching Nanta performances, and sightseeing through Incheon City Tour Bus are also added, which is expected to contribute to the internationalization of the campus.
Yasuhiro Arai, a professor at Bunkyo Gakuin University who visited Summer School for the first time as a leader, said, "We have high expectations for various and excellent courses and experience programs at Inha University."
"Inha Summer School serves as an evangelist to spread the Korean Wave as well as the community to the world. I hope this year's Summer School will be a turning point to revitalize the short-term invitation program, which has recently been stalled due to COVID-19." said Kyung Jin Min, the dean of international affairs.
